OVERVIEW
Coordinated by the Australia National University and sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Finance the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research aims to coordinate and focus academic research throughout the region. As Chakriya Bowman from the ANU says “it provides a network between scholars and member research organisations in East Asia, and a forum for relevant research activities”.
REQUIREMENTS
One of the key reasons EABER choose Claromentis was due to the extremely flexible and feature rich functionality list that Claromentis offers clients out of the box. Working closely with HDIS Australia EABER was able to customise Claromentis so that a part of the system could be opened up to external or public users – this can be accessed from www.eaber.org
Other key requirements included ease of use, fast access, ability to control multiple websites, unlimited user license, customer relationship, visual interface design to reflect EABER re-branding, world wide accessibility, multi-lingual, news and events, automated document submission and extensive search capabilities including customisable metadata.
BENEFITS
EABER also uses Claromentis to control external websites of organisations who don’t have the resources to maintain their own websites. This is often used for larger clients who need to manage multiple sub-sites or micro-sites and extensively in the franchise sector. Claromentis has its own simple to use editor so users don’t need any IT knowledge to maintain these sites.
Claromentis is also used to control all documents both internally and externally. This includes documenting how many times a document has been viewed, tracking changes, prescribing when the document can be viewed, applying workflows to documents for automatic approval and much more.

ADAPTABLE
EABER also required a shopping cart application so that users can purchase academic papers online. This was easily developed for EABER which proves how flexible the framework is. For those papers that don’t need payment users are free to view the paper immediately. This is achieved by using the Claromentis Permission System that controls what users can see depending on certain permissions relevant to their role.
